Do you wish there was an easy way to dry your hair effectively without causing damage and frizz? You’ve come to the right place because I’m here to tell you that there is!

Microfiber towels are the best way to dry your hair because they absorb water and keep your hair in place, preventing it from getting tangled or frizzy. They also help prevent split ends, which can lead to the breakage of hair strands.

Other benefits of microfiber towels include increased durability and quicker drying times, so why not start drying your hair with microfiber today?

I’ve tried out so many microfiber towels, it was hard to pick my favorites – but I’ve finally chosen my top 5, and I’m going to be reviewing them all in today’s guide!

Don’t forget to read until the end for my personal tips and tricks about choosing the perfect microfiber towel for your hair.

Best For Long Hair: Luxe Beauty Essentials Microfiber Hair Towel Wrap

Features
Luxe Beauty Essentials Microfiber Hair Towel Wrap
  • Heavyweight Microfiber Absorbs More Water
  • Large 20 x 40" Size
  • Soft Plush Texture
  • Attached Tag Doubles as Hanging Loop

The first microfiber towel I would recommend is the Luxe Beauty Essentials Microfiber Hair Towel Wrap. If you have long hair, this is definitely the towel for you!

Measuring 20 inches by 40 inches, this towel is suitable for long hair. It can be super frustrating trying to find a microfiber towel that is suitable for long, thick hair, but the Luxe Beauty Essentials towel doesn’t disappoint.

Another advantage of using this microfiber towel is its thickness. Thin microfiber towels are basically useless when it comes to absorption, but the 410 GSM microfiber used to make this towel absorbs excess water quickly and effectively, speeding up the drying process.

I also love that the material is so soft and plush. Not only does it feel great, but it is gentle on the hair and won’t cause any damage such as split ends.

You can even use the tag attached to the towel as a hanging loop, making it easier to let your towel air-dry between uses.

The only thing to bear in mind is that this towel, being thick, is not the most lightweight, and the weight can cause it to slip when you wrap it around your head.

Pros
  • 20 x 40 inches - Big enough for long hair
  • 410 GSM - Thick and maximum absorption
  • Extra-soft - Gentle and non-damaging
  • Tag attached - Works as hanging loop
Cons
  • Not the most lightweight - Sometimes slips down

Best Wrap: Turbie Twist Microfiber Hair Towel

Features
Turbie Twist Microfiber Hair Towel
  • Lightweight
  • 10" x 24½”
  • Machine-Washable
  • Elastic Loop Design Easy To Fasten

This next microfiber towel is one of my absolute favorite microfiber towels for hair.

The Turbie Twist Microfiber Hair Towel measures 10 inches x 24.5 inches, so it’s not a great option for long hair, although it works well for short to medium lengths.

With that being said, I was really impressed with the soft texture and lightweight material of this microfiber towel. Because the towel is so soft, you don’t have to worry about sustaining any damage to your hair or even your scalp.

Lightweightness in a microfiber towel is also a bonus because lighter towels are less likely to slip out of place when they start absorbing water.

Another reason this towel will stay in place for hours is the user-friendly elastic loop design. This sets the towel apart from other products on the hair care market that features tricky buttons or even clasps that are difficult to use.

This towel is machine-washable, so once you’ve dried your hair, you can throw it straight in the washing machine for a deep clean. The best thing is, because this is a light towel, it will dry quickly, too!

Pros
  • Lightweight - Doesn't slip down
  • Soft texture - No hair or scalp damage
  • Features elastic loop - Holds towel wrapped
  • Machine-washable - Easy to clean
Cons
  • 10 x 24.5 inches - Not ideal for long hair

Best For Hair Health: Coco & Eve Hair Towel Wrap

Features
Coco & Eve Hair Towel Wrap
  • Fits Most Hair Lengths
  • Contains No Silicone or Parabens
  • Gentle Fabric
  • Dries Hair Quickly

Coco & Eve is a big name in hair care, and since trying out the Coco & Eve Hair Towel Wrap, I can see why!

This microfiber is made from soft polyester fibers. These fibers are so soft that I can guarantee this microfiber towel won’t make your hair frizzy or cause any damage to individual strands, like some other towels (including microfiber towels) do.

You may struggle to use this towel if you have extra-long hair, but the towel is large enough to accommodate most hair lengths as well as thicknesses.

What really made this microfiber towel stand out to me, though, is how much it improves the health of your hair!

We often don’t think about the chemicals that might be in our hair towels, but these substances can soak into our hair strands and follicles and lead to unhealthy, damaged hair over time.

In addition to being soft and gentle on the hair, the Coco & Eve microfiber hair towel is free from silicone and a variety of toxins such as parabens and phthalates.

Unfortunately, I did struggle to get this towel in place around my head because I found the button closure difficult to use.

I got there in the end, so it just takes some practice, but if you’re looking for the easiest possible closure on a microfiber towel, this isn’t the one.

Pros
  • Polyester fibers - Super absorbent and fast-drying
  • Toxin and silicone-free - Healthy for hair
  • Soft fabric - Won't cause frizz
  • Large size - Suitable for most hair lengths
Cons
  • Button closure - Difficult to fasten

DuraComfort Essentials Anti-Frizz Microfiber Hair Towel

Features
DuraComfort Essentials Anti-Frizz Microfiber Hair Towel
  • Made Of Supreme Quality
  • Gentle To Your Hair And Skin
  • Absorbs An Incredible Amount Of Excess Moisture In A Short Time
  • Has Anti-Frizz Properties

This Anti-Frizz Microfiber Hair Towel from DuraComfort is one of my favorites because it leaves my hair feeling fresh and manageable, even after overnight use!

If you have long hair, you’ll be pleased to hear that this towel will work for you! Measuring 41 inches by 19 inches, it’s large enough to wrap around plenty of hair.

But that’s not the only reason you should consider trying out this towel! It is specifically made of lisse crepe microfiber, which is incredibly soft and extra-gentle on your hair, no matter what hair type you have!

Plus, DuraComfort’s InstaDry technology enables even faster absorption than the average microfiber towel, reducing drying times by about 50%!

If you’re a very busy person but still want to dry your hair without excess heat, this could be the microfiber towel for you.

This towel even comes with a practical pouch for storage, so you can bring your towel with you anywhere without getting it dirty.

I did find the clip quite frustrating to use, though. It’s easy to attach initially, but it’s not particularly strong, so it can sometimes come undone, especially if you have thick hair.

Pros
  • 41 x 19 inches - Great for long hair
  • Lisse crepe microfiber - Extra gentle
  • InstaDry technology - Fast absorption
  • Includes pouch - Ideal for travel
Cons
  • Clip is not very strong - May come undone

Kitsch Microfiber Hair Towel Wrap

Features
Kitsch Microfiber Hair Towel Wrap
  • Absorbent Hair Towel
  • Portable Size
  • Ultra-Soft And Lint-Free
  • Less Friction And Causes Significantly Less Frizz

Finally, the Kitsch Microfiber Hair Towel Wrap is definitely worth trying!

Kitsch’s microfiber hair towel is made of extra-fine fibers, which means that it’s lightweight and doesn’t feel too hot or scratchy against the scalp.

Despite being so lightweight, this towel doesn’t compromise when it comes to absorption.

In fact, it absorbs water at 5 times the rate of your average hair towel, so even if you have a lot of thick hair, you will see a significant difference in the drying time.

Many people with long hair find it difficult to put all of their hair up in a towel because not all the strands want to stay in place.

The quick-twist design of this microfiber towel allows you to easily twist your hair up on top of your head and make sure it stays there.

Unfortunately, the closure for this hair towel wrap is at the back, and the elastic loop that goes around the button is positioned inside the towel, so you have to reach your hand inside at the back of your head to secure it. This can take a few attempts to master.

Pros
  • Fine microfibers - Lightweight and comfortable
  • Quick-twist design - Holds a lot of hair
  • Ultra-absorbent - Good for all hair types
Cons
  • Closure at the back - Impractical positioning

Buyer’s Guide

Microfiber towels are often a bit more expensive than regular hair towels, so it’s important to choose the best one for your hair so that you don’t waste any money.

Here are the factors I would recommend bearing in mind before you invest in your new microfiber towel:

Size

The size of the microfiber towel you should choose is going to depend on how much hair you have.

A larger towel will absorb more water and be able to hold more hair, so if you have lots of hair, then go for a bigger one.

However, a smaller towel may be better if you have short hair and don’t want to have to deal with a lot of excess towel wrapped around your head.

Be aware that many manufacturers advertise their microfiber towels as suitable for long hair, but this is not always the case.

The best thing you can do to ensure that your microfiber towel fits your head and hair length is to look at the dimensions, usually provided in inches.

For longer hair, I recommend choosing a towel that measures roughly 20 by 40 inches. For medium-length hair or shorter, 10 x 24 inches will probably be sufficient.

Quantities

Sometimes, you can purchase microfiber towels in multipacks.

Now, many microfiber towels on the market are advertised as quick-drying (which is often the case), so you may not necessarily need more than one, especially if you don’t wash your hair every day or choose a machine-washable towel that is easy to clean.

Nevertheless, it might be helpful to have more than one microfiber towel to dry your hair, and multipacks are often sold at a discounted rate.

So, it’s a good idea to look into the various buying options before purchasing a microfiber towel for your hair.

Microfiber Weight

The weight of the microfiber towel you choose will dictate its absorbency, physical weight, and drying time, so this is an important factor to think about.

An ideal thickness for a microfiber towel is approximately 400 GSM. This weight provides a lot of absorbency and will dry your hair in no time.

However, you may also find that towels like this are more likely to slip off your head due to the weight, and they might also take longer to dry.

If you prefer a finer, more lightweight microfiber towel, be prepared for it to absorb less water. If you have fine hair, this may not be a problem, but for thicker hair types, I would definitely recommend a higher weight.

Wrapping/Fastening

Fastening designs can make or break a microfiber towel in terms of user-friendliness. Many people give up on drying their hair with microfiber towels because they find them too complicated to tie or hold in place.

For most people, an elastic loop is the best kind of closure for a microfiber towel.

This is because an elastic type is stretchable, unlike a buttonhole, which is fixed in place and might be difficult to locate – especially if it’s positioned at the back of the head, which is something I found with a couple of the towels I tried out.

There is also the option of choosing a microfiber towel with a clip, but if you do so, make sure that the clip is strong enough to hold the towel in place with all of your hair inside.

This is a common issue with microfiber towels, particularly for people with very long or very thick hair.

If you usually find it difficult to get all of your hair to stay up in a towel, I recommend a twist-up design.

Additional Features

There aren’t that many extra features to talk about when it comes to microfiber towels, but there are a couple I wanted to mention.

Some microfiber hair towels come with tags that you can use as hanging loops. You might be tempted to use the elastic loop or buttonhole on your towel for the same purpose, but this can sometimes damage the closure, ruining the towel, so it’s best to use the tag.

Additionally, you can get microfiber towels that come with pouches. These protective pouches allow you to take your microfiber towel anywhere (on vacation or to the gym, for example) while keeping it completely clean.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will A Microfiber Towel Make My Hair Frizzy?

No, a microfiber towel won’t cause your hair to become frizzy. In fact, it’s quite the opposite: a microfiber towel helps keep your hair moisturized and healthy.

This is because you don’t have to rub your hair dry when using a microfiber towel, and you don’t have to use a hair dryer either.

Since friction and humidity (heat plus moisture) are the main causes of frizz, microfiber towels are the best option for minimizing this hair-related problem.

How Long Should I Leave My Hair In A Microfiber Towel?

The length of time you need to leave your hair in a microfiber towel depends on how absorbent the specific towel is as well as the length and thickness of your hair.

Generally, you should leave your hair in a microfiber towel for at least 30 minutes for the best results. If your hair is very long or very thick, you may want to leave the towel in your hair overnight.

Can I Sleep With My Hair In A Microfiber Towel?

Yes, you can sleep with your hair in a microfiber towel. In fact, this is one of the main reasons people buy microfiber towels for their hair.

We all know that going to sleep with loose, wet hair can be a recipe for disaster when it comes to frizz and drying times, but using a microfiber towel allows your hair to dry overnight without getting frizzy.

Conclusion

Microfiber towels are great for hair care. They’re easy to use, they help protect your hair from heat and humidity (which often lead to frizz and damage), and they’re affordable.

The only downside is that not all microfiber towels work for everyone, so you have to choose the right one for your hair.

I hope that my reviews of my personal top 5 microfiber towels have helped you find the perfect towel for your hair, no matter your hair type or length.

As long as you choose the right towel size and thickness, you’ll be amazed at the results!
